Inside Sales/Business Development Representative

Location: Cary, NC

The Inside Sales/Business Development Representative is responsible for identifying and closing revenue opportunities in the North American and/or European markets through engaging prospects and existing clients. This role requires strong initiative, self-motivation and coordination with other team members. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong sales aptitude, a willingness to perform sales campaigns, and the flexibility to work an alternative schedule to meet the needs of our customers.

This position carries monthly/quarterly/yearly quotas. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop an understanding of our products and services to successfully deliver our value propositions to prospects and existing clients
  • ​Generate sales through prospecting and expanding existing customer business
  • Respond to software and service inquiries by customers and company staff
  • Manage full life cycle of the sales process from prospecting to close
  • Qualify companies and contacts to understand the customers key needs/challenges through identification, discovery, planning and account/customer qualifications
  • Engage in technical discussions and coordinate with other Certara experts after opportunities are identified
  • Document communication/discussions and all opportunity details in SalesForce.com to keep effective track record of existing correspondence and/or future next steps required
  • Build a strong pipeline to support assigned software quota
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, decision makers, PhD scientists, IT and senior management teams in pre-clinical, DMPK, clinical, formulation development and pharmacometrics
  • Gather market intelligence and relay to management in order to improve offerings and communication for local market needs

Education, Experience, Training, and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or within a science related discipline
  • At least 2-3 years of inside sales or business development experience, preferably within the high-tech or pharmaceutical industry. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be capable of communicating value propositions for software and services to effectively identify opportunities
  • A proven history of meeting quota
  • Ability to develop a territory strategy
  • Ability to manage bookings forecasts to a reliable and timely closure
  • Must be able to multitask and have strong organizational skills
  • Prior experience interfacing with pre-sales, field sales, product development and a variety of customer departments or representatives
  • Self-motivated professional with ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of SalesForce.com

  • Working knowledge of SalesForce.com and/or database experience with equivalent systems. Fluency in other languages a plus!
