Certara, the leading bio-simulation company is currently seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator for a rapidly growing corporate IT team.  This position administers the operations of computer systems related to operating systems, servers, and end-user workstations. The Senior System Administrator will architect, install and maintain data center infrastructure and software (servers, storage, and operating systems). Senior Administrator researches new technologies and leverages optimization techniques to ensure that systems operate efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specifies, builds and maintain data center infrastructure (servers, storage, networks, operating systems, applications).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any IT service issues related to operating systems and servers.
  • Leverage optimization techniques to maximize the efficiency of all computer systems.
  • Monitor the performance of data center infrastructure.
  • Provide tier III level support to the Helpdesk.
  • Manage and document change.
  • Implement patches
  • Implement and manage automation for the build of desktops.
  • Participate in after-hours support activities when required.
  • Train users and peers on IT-related tasks


  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of progressive systems administration experience.
  • A degree or certificate in computer science or a related field.
  • Must have prior demonstrated work experience delivering major projects on-time, under-budget and within tight time constraints.
  • Must have working knowledge of system administration concepts, for example, “build for reliability/plan for scalability”.
  • Must have solid understanding of networking/distributed and cloud computing concepts.
  • Competency in Microsoft Server Operating Systems and Technologies.
  • Competency working with Cisco Unified Computing Technology (UCS).
  • Must have prior experience implementing and managing virtualization technologies such as VMWARE, Microsoft Hyper-V and XenServer.
  • Must have full competency working with EMC storage technologies.
  • Must have capability to write and judiciously maintain systems documentation

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. 
  • Must be able to multitask and have strong organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated professional with ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment. 
  • Extensive experience with security, for example, previous active involvement in corporate practices of file permissions, authentication schemes, data integrity, network security, backup methods, and physical security.
  • Solid understanding of system administration concepts, for example, “build for reliability/plan for scalability
