Hello,

Can anyone share their experience running WinNonlin on an Apple/Mac laptop via Parallels, or installing on a remote server and running a virtual desktop?

My first choice is to use Parallels so I can use WinNonlin offline, but I want to make sure it performs adequately.

Any specific advice?

Thanks,

Claude

I'm sorry Claude that no one replied to you yet.  We do have some users running Phoenix on Parallels on Mac, although it is not offiicially supported.

We do get asked this every few months by users so I will point them to this thread in future to share their experiences.
 Simon.

Claude, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news however Certara cannot support/recommend Parallels for windows or other emulators on Mac.

We recently dug deeper into Mac users experiences and have found that with Mac hardware, some numerical differences can be expected e.g. exponent/log functions are used, the result will be a bit different since this is ARM-based processor (Note our Release notes specify Intel).  This is not a Phoenix specific issue, e.g. https://github.com/numpy/numpy/issues/21209

Therefore we suggest to install on a true Windows machine with intel processors as per the getting Started guide, or perhaps to evaluate
https://www.certara....phoenix-hosted/.

If you want to explore these options we will of course support your re-validation efforts, please contact support@certara.com.

 Simon.

PS some ad hoc testing has suggested that Windows emulator on a Mac using Intel processor does give equivalent results, but again this is not a formally tested/supported environment.
