28 April 2021 Certara released Phoenix 8.3.3 which can be obtained via https://lp.certara.c...hoenix-8.3.html.

Functionally this is very similar to 8.3.2; it addresses some occasional freezing issues that users were reporting by improving memory management as well as enhancing support for SCCM (silent installation).

For more details you should always go here (via Phoenix > Help > Contents) to get the most recent live version of the PDF release noteshttps://onlinehelp.c.../8.3/index.html

On 17 December 2021, Certara will retire and replace the digital security certificate used in Phoenix applications in the form of a maintenance release (e.g., an upgrade of 8.3.3 to 8.3.4).

The maintenance release will be available by 15th November 2021, and applies to supported Phoenix versions 8.1.x, 8.2.x, and 8.3.x. Installation of this maintenance release is necessary to prevent erroneous detection of Certara executables as "unsigned" after certificate replacement. It will therefore be mandatory for all Phoenix WinNonlin and Phoenix NLME customers who use the Phoenix Model Object. With this maintenance release, we will take the opportunity to make other important updates to Phoenix and specifically to NCA. Please read the Product Notification document for more details on
https://certara.service-now.com/csm
.

and now (Nov2021) we have moved to the new Support portal;
https://certaracommu....com/support/s/

Please reach out to support@certara.com with any questions.

IMPORTANT: Based on customer feedback, we are extending the digital security certificate replacement deadline for Phoenix applications to February 28, 2022.
User action is required before this deadline as noted below.
On February 28, 2022, Certara will retire and replace the digital security certificate used in Phoenix applications in the form of a Maintenance Release (e.g., an upgrade of version 8.3.3. to 8.3.4).
Installation of this Maintenance Release is necessary to prevent erroneous detection of Certara executables as “unsigned” after the digital security certificate replacement and will be mandatory for all Phoenix customers (not just customers who use the Phoenix Model Object).
As a Phoenix customer, this means you must install the Maintenance Release for your version of Phoenix listed below by February 28, 2022:

  • Phoenix Version 8.1.1 - available 15 Nov 2021
  • Phoenix Version 8.2.2 - available 15 Nov 2021
  • Phoenix Version 8.3.4 - available 24 Nov 2021 includes additional platform stability improvements.

More information about these updates can be found at the Customer Support Portal and any questions should be directed to Certara Customer Support: Support@Certara.com

An optional upgrade; Phoenix 8.3.5 is scheduled for release 23rdFebruary 25th March 2022.
This release is optional and it is your choice as to which you install. We would not normally have two updates so close to each other but the certificate revocation and us working out a couple of useful enhancements to solve some rare but annoying issues for some users did not quite align in time. Simon.

Phoenix 8.3.5 Updates

A checksum is now done when Phoenix projects are saved as zip files (QC 16931): If the checksum fails, the projects are resaved. This may prevent some cases of project files becoming corrupted.

Autobackup feature implemented to aid in recovering from corrupt projects (QC 18108):  When saving a project, Phoenix now creates a backup project file (with an extension of .phxbackup) in the same directory.  This provides a recent “checkpoint” from which most of the work can be recovered in the event that a project becomes corrupt.  Note that there is only one backup file maintained for a project, i.e., subsequent save operations overwrite the project’s backup file.

R script changes are now retained when using “Start Development Environment” within the R Shell object (QC 18125): When using Phoenix 8.3.3, once changes to the script were made, saved back to disc, and R-Studio was exited, re-loading the script in Phoenix showed none of the changes. With Phoenix 8.3.5, the edits are now visible upon re-loading in Phoenix.
Saving an un-executed NCA object created with Phoenix 8.3.x outside of Phoenix, then reloading the project and executing it, no longer generates an error (QC 18126)
An issue where using Phoenix 8.3 to execute an NCA with a large number of profiles resulted in a “Phoenix has stopped working” error due to a stack overflow has been fixed (QC 18152/CRM 215821).
Reporter object no longer wraps data in Table cells differently than Phoenix 8.1 (QC 18155): A different padding constant was implemented in Phoenix 8.3 but has been reverted to the 0.38 inches padding width value that was used in Phoenix 8.1.
An NCA with many profiles no longer fails to run when executed while viewing a panel with mapped data (QC 18159).

In prior versions of Phoenix, PML models with more than one observe() statement, IWRES and epsilon shrinkage calculation was only correct for the observe() variable that appears first in the order of observe() statements in the model(PHX-8295)
The optimization is not affected by this bug and all other residuals (RES, WRES, CWRES) were correctly calculated.

I just installed Phenix and noticed the release versión is 8.3.4.295 (About Phenix). Do I still need to do the upgrade since it is version 8.3.4? Any clarification on this issue?

Thanks

Ignacio

Phoenix 8.4 is approved for release as of Friday, 19 May 2023.

The Phoenix 8.4 software is available for download by contacting Support and will be added to https://www.certara....re/phoenix-pkpdsoon.

In this release, we are introducing over 20 enhancements that primarily focus on usability, auditability, and compatibility.

Here are some highlights of the key enhancements you can expect in Phoenix 8.4:

  • Usability Enhancements: You will find a collection of improvements focused on making the user experience more intuitive and streamlined, making your daily tasks smoother and more efficient. For example, duplicating objects within a workflow is a convenience that will save you time and allow you to work more effectively.
  • Auditability Improvements: We understand the importance of maintaining a robust audit trail. One of the auditability features in Phoenix 8.4 is the ability to easily set user preference for UTC or system time zone for date/time formatting.
  • Compatibility Upgrades: The release makes Phoenix more compatible than ever before. For example, Phoenix 8.4 now supports more data filetypes, including sas7bdat files and SAS transport file (XPT) formats through v9.

These enhancements extend to various aspects of our software, including the Phoenix Platform, Reporting, Charting, and NLME. We are confident that these updates will significantly enhance your ability to analyze, interpret, and visualize your data with ease.

To learn more about the new functionality in version 8.4 you can:

  • Watch the What’s New video for a tour of the enhancements

Read the Release Notes for a comprehensive overview of all the enhancements as well as the 80+ fixed defects https://onlinehelp.c.../8.4/index.html

  Simon
PS With the release of 8.4, support for 8.1 will come to an end as per Certara Support policy for Certara Software (link direct to https://certara.my.s...SrrDF0ZqhEHvm5E) and we highly recommend upgrading

A patch is available for Phoenix 8.4 users who import files of the type ‘sas7bdat’ that contain date/time formats.  Certain date/time formats in sas7bdat files are importing in Phoenix 8.4 with the year 1960, and this will be fixed by installing the patch.  Only users with Phoenix 8.4 using sas7bdat files need to install the patch.

A patch is available for Phoenix 8.4 users to address a rarely reported issue with NCA of larger datasets, with the message “Dosing Type not Defined” in the “Warnings and Errors” result..  Very occasionally the Final Parameters result sheet may be missing a parameter for a profile, although the Core Output and Final Parameters Pivoted result will be correct and complete.  Prior to this patch being made available the workaround was to re-execute the NCA object, see PHX-21267 and PHX-21462 in known issues  https://onlinehelp.c...nown_Issues.htm

https://certara.my.s...Available-Patch

thanks, Simon

Note this will also be rolled into the forthcoming 8.5 release, April 2024, which will also be tested on windows 11 and have a new licensing engine that should be a better user experience.

Phoenix 8.5 Download | Certara  is now released and any licensed user may upgrade for free.  This has a new and easier licensing system that uses the same Certara Admin (CAD) https://my.certara.net/register  where you can also access a free e-copy of Gabrielsson & Weiner’s  “Pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic data analysis: concepts and applications”.  Please use your organisations email to register; gmail etc. won't be recognised.  Also we hope to move the forum to a new platform inside CAD

You can see more about What is new in Phoenix 8.5? | Certara  which covers improvements to reporting functionalities including customising tick marks and creating more effective tables.  Additionally there are improvements to NLME including a graphical code block, new residual diagnostics, Vcvfixef statement, etc.

Actually there will be a minor enhancement to our background logging and project verification as 8.5.1 available in September so that is the one I would recommend to plan re-validation around, but you could do everything as a dry run, especially licensing with 8.5 since from the user side it will look the same   Please let us know you have any questions.

8.5.1 is proposed to be available 16th September and this is the version we would recommend validating and installing.

  • New feature to automatically repair and open corrupted projects
    • result of extensive research on problematic project files from Support
    • significant benefits with automatic repair process
    • Phoenix 8.5.1 delivers this new functionality before 8.6
    • During repair process, Phoenix determines;
    • if any project segments will be lost as a result of fixing the project file.
    • Notification & place a document in the project's Documents folder,
    • Details  repairs made and specifying the project segments that were lost.

If the project was fully recoverable, Phoenix will proceed to repair and open the project file without any notifications.
