Is it possible to define the file name when exporting a dataset via the CDISC\SDTM tool. I'm using Phoenix 6.1. Currently, it seems that one can only choose the directory but the names of the created files are either a date stamp plus sort of serial number for the PP domain or 'PC.XPT' for the PC domain in a sub-directory. I have not tried other domains.

There is currently no option for the user to specify the file names.

CDISC Export should generate a subdirectory in the selected directory named SDTM_Export_yyyymmdd_hhmmss. Then each domain file should be named using the two character domain identifier (e.g. PC.xpt, PP.xpt, etc...).

Is this different that what you are seeing?

Thanks Ana,

For the PC domain, it creates a sub-folder as you describe and places the pc.xpt file together with a define.xml there. For PP domain it simply creates a file named PP-YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS.xpt, at least on my machine. As said, I did not test the other domains.

My issue here is that according to our processes, the datasets exported from Phoenix do not completely fulfill the requirements of the PC and PP domains as specified in our company; I mean the datasets which will eventually be sent to FDA. The domain datasets have many variables which are not really of use for the analysis in WNL and only impact on their readability. Also the final PC and PP domains do not contain for example treatment variables, which you need to a certain extent for PK analysis. The exports from Phoenix will go through a conformance process outside Phoenix to create the final domains. So for the transfer to our other systems I was wondering whether file names can be used as identifiers.

Thanks for pointing out the inconsistency in the export naming for PP domains. This has been corrected for the next release and the tracking number is QC # 9211. Any other enhancements to the CDISC export in the next release will also be summarize in the release notes. At this time I don't believe that we will be able to provide any options for renaming the datasets. The next release is expected by the end of this year.

Thanks,

Ana

I just realized that an export of multiple domains at the same time does not create sub-directories but simply the number of files corresponding to the number of selected domains in the selected folder.

For example I select PC and PP domain to be exported, then it creates

PC-YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS.xpt and

PP-YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS.xpt

in the selected folder. No sub-folders with date&time stamp.

I like that!
