A quick question to the developers: What is the reason for allowing an offset only for the second plot?

Hi Helmut,

The use case that we are supporting is the type of plot that is shown in the Multiple Profiles shipped example project, and is also described in the WinNonlin Users Guide, which has a categorical plot overlaid with a plot of mean values with error bars.  In this type of plot, the user will want to offset the error bars so they are not directly on top of the categorical plot.

Are you asking why not the third, fourth, etc., plots?  If so, could you send an example of a situation where you would need to offset additional plots?

Or are you asking why not the first plot, when a second plot is overlaid?  It is true that you need to set up your plots in the correct order, because you will only be able to offset the second one.

Exactly. Generally I give different categories also different colors and markers. Below what I could achieve with a categorial plot. Treatment as category (geom. mean ±SD). Then an overlay of the individual values (shifted).
Nice but does not match my usual setup.

With some tricks I could get the next one (with the jitter as a bonus).. That’s luxury. I would be happy to have a shift for all overlays, so that I can color-code them for clarity.

Hi Helmut,

Thanks for the follow-up.  This was also requested by someone else since the 7.0 release, and was logged as QC 15945 (if you are keeping track!).  I've updated that entry with your example, and will follow up on it.

Best,
Linda Hughes
