As discussed in the UGM, the future extranet will contain 'rooms' for products beyond PKS. The PKS forum will

 

still be private to this group, but should give a forum for discussions on e.g. Phoenix WinNonlin, NLME, IVIVC etc.

 

    Before we finalise these upgrades it would be useful for you, the users, to comment on what is working well

 

currently, what you might want to change and any extra features you feel would be useful to add. The aim is to bring the

 

required information into one place, a few things that might be held in this extranet;

 

- stickies ?

- an area to share and store user generated information e.g. Phoenix templates, SOPs etc.

- an RSS feed to notify of new posts.

- a 'best practicses wiki' ?

- a 'live' Roadmap ?

- others?

 

    Please look at this current forum and comment as to how it can be made more useful to you.

I would like to discuss adding/modifying some of the following:

 

1) It would be great if we could have a way to identify which customers were using which products and maybe if it is in clinical, discovery or both. Maybe making the profiles more meaningful would help or some other way so I know if I have a problem with or questions about a product I can find out whoelse has the same product and version.

 

2) Can we post the last User group meeting slides here or someplace so we can look back at them?

 

3) How would we feel about posting in the forums some of our system diagrams and or data flows? Again my goal here would be to identify comonality so we could find efficient ways to solve problems or make new product/enhancement requests.

Please place a forum link on the main extranet page, it is presently a layer deep which jsut makes it harder to find than it needs to be

Making the presence of the forum and extranet if that is where you plan on hosting it right up at the top of the banner on the main Pharsight page. I had to search on "extranet" to get to that page, first.

It should be a top navigation bar link on all pages. Not just off to the side.

Also, you need to advertize more that the forum is up. The last I head of a forum idea was when we were pushing for it at the 2008 user's group meeting. But I had not heard a thing about it until our rep came back from the 2009 meeting so definitely more information, even acknowledgment of the existance of the link on the first pharsight page would be expected.

OK, First the forum should be open for all products, you can segment each product with a board (subsection to main forum). There ought to be stickie topics for formal Pharsight comment, topics, and announcements, but the rest of the topics can float unless one is relevent to be maintained.

-by stickies, I am assuming you mean forum topics that remain at the top of the topic list regardless of date, if you mean something else, please elaborate. Otherwise, stickies are good, espically if they address an issue you know will come up again and again. But leave the power to the moderator do make a topic a "stickie"

I think that a special board for Pharsight announcements is a good idea, separate from boards for each product. One topic would be someting like known bugs, work arounds, and schedule. You may list that somewhere else, but if the forum becomes a common area to share information, you would want as much in one place as you could have.

I do not see an RSS feed to let me know when there is a new topic to be a valuable thing, now many forum boards will allow you to "follow" a specific topic and have e-mails when that topic is posted to, but it is an optional thing, and is user elected on a topic by topic basis.

A best practices wiki, might be useful, I guess it depends on how well it is maintained and I am not sure what you mean by "live" roadmap, unless you mean an up to date listing of future release dates, etc.

General comments; I really do not care for the forum layout/design. I do not know if this product will allow you to change much, but the display of text should not be restricted to a three inch field. If you could change the width to full screen, that would be better. The Simple Machines forum engine (http://www.simplemachines.org/) has a much better layout and feel as well as a much more professional look, in my opinion.

It would be nice to have a forum that has spell check ability, for those of us who can not type well...

All for now, but I think the biggest immediate improvement would be to change the style of the board to allow for a wider view.

I went out to fireboards website and the way they have their own layout is much better, so I am assuming it is a forum setting, I would strongly recommend changing the layout.

 

Might this have something to do with the size limitations placed on the web design, e.g., designing the main web page for 800/600 or 1024/760, instead of something larger? If not, and the forum board is being constrained to fit an overall Pharsight "look" (or fit in the white box) I would not have the forum constrained to that and allow for a wider view.

It bothers me more I have to read a 3" column than if the forum had a completely different look than the rest of the Extranet site.

Is there a way to change the default settings on postings so that every post that is made does not wind up in your "subscriptions" It is difficult to remeber to uncheck the box to subscribe for topics. Again it ought to be an "opt-in" rather than an "opt-out" feature.

That link on the left is not working at least for me, it bounces me back to a login screen. If I login, then click PKS users and access the discussion it works for me that way, but not from the direct link on the left
