Although in the Phoenix User's guide it is indicated that the column "Variable" cannot be changed if you have working knowledge of XML it is possible to add CDISC variables to the map:

1) Copy the file Phoenix\application\Plugins\CDISC\CdiscDomains.xml to a new location.

2) Open the saved file in the editor of your choosing. At the top of the document there are some comments about the elements and attributes.

3) You will see variable elements for each domain as you scroll down.

4) Insert a new variable element in the desired domain. At a minimum, you will need to include the following attributes for each variable element:

  a) name – Name as defined in the CDISC SDTM Implementation Guide

  B) label – Label as defined in the CDISC SDTM Implementation Guide

  c) type

       i. text

       ii. number

iii. datetime (will expect a valid date/time value that can be converted to ISO 601 format on export)

iv. relativetime (will convert numeric value to ISO 8601 elapsed time format on export)

       v. yornull

vi. shortname (8 character name such as for PPTESTCD)

  d) required – true or false

5) Load the new map on the next CDISC Export and you should see any newly defined variables when mapping the domains.
